Tour de Creuse
Today's blog will be slightly more genteel than of late. Simon is still cracking on with pointing up the boiler house base, but quite frankly, anymore posts about that will be like flogging a dead cheval...🐴
So, we thought that a little exploration of our department (county to you) would be an interesting interlude from the back breaking slog that is our daily lives...
But first, let me thrill you with some gossip from the garden of Monsieur et Madame Clements...
The cold-frame is doing a grand job with the seedlings, we have a variety of veggies on the go, that would disgust the average teenager, luckily we don't seem to have any of them in tow...
Obviously, the pots of dirt are awaiting the birth of various légumes. Watch this space..
The planting of seedlings has also commenced, we have onions...
A magnifying glass may be helpful here..
And some celery...
Strawberries in a pot, adapted by my own fair hands....Simon's not the only one handy with a power tool you know.
I'll keep you updated on the veg garden, I know you're all agog with anticipation.
After lunch we thought we'd have a little explore of the general area. It really is beautiful, and Spring is definitely in the air.
This gorgeous little house is in the village of Bellegarde en Marche about 3km away from us. |
It is a castle of medieval origin and about 8km from us.
Gratuitous snaps of the picturesque countryside |
We drove a little further and Simon had a destination in his sights. As anyone who knows Simon will know, he's a massive petrol head, he has an encyclopedic knowledge regarding motor racing and cars, so it wasn't a massive surprise when we ended up at The Mas du Clos Circuit.
Much to Simon's disgust, it's a private race course.
It was originally made in 1963 by Pierre Bardinon who was a collector of Ferraris. The circuit is now unfortunately closed due to it requiring safety updates, which are somewhat too expensive for the family to implement, maybe they should sell a Ferrari or two!
It was internationally known as one of the most beautiful tracks to drive in the world.
There is also a gorgeous chateau in the grounds, with some very cute chevals 🐴
I had tried and failed miserably to lure a pony into the back of the truck, obviously my equine French wasn't up to par....so we hoofed it home...😁
I was looking forward to a relaxing afternoon while Simon was finishing off the pointing outside but he had to make a rapid exit into the house...an accident of the derrière had occurred, too much bending over
Best get out the needle and thread....
