Bonne Chance!
Hello! Or should I say Bonjour...
This is going to be a blog about mine and Simon's new French adventure.
We had a fanciful dream about moving to France and living the good life. This was about 10 years ago, and, after many holidays all around this beautiful country we decided that instead of sitting around the kitchen table and talking about it, we would in fact, do something productive and make it happen.
A great deal of planning ensued, and, to cut a long (and quite boring) story short, last year on April 15th 2019 we picked up the keys to our new home in the gorgeous La Creuse part of France.
We had a lot of help moving in from our daughter and son-in-law, plus two good friends. Needless to say they didn't know what they were letting themselves in for, there was just a touch of rubbish we had to move out before we could actually move in!
But, with some dust masks, rubber gloves and some bleach we made it to the first evening, and celebrated with a well deserved bottle of wine or two!!
With our French house now actually a reality we could start to plan the sale of our UK home and make decisions as to when we were going to take the plunge and make the permanent move.
April 3rd 2020 was the planned D Day, but as we all know, the cosmos and that old git, sod's law had something to say about that, in the shape of COVID 19.
